Hezbollah, meanwhile, continues to fire missile and rocket salvos at Israel, setting off sirens across the country. In statements, the militant group said its fighters were also clashing with Israeli troops in two separate areas of southeast Lebanon.

The war began when Hamas-led militants blew holes in the border fence and stormed into southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. They killed some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducted around 250. Some 100 hostages are still inside Gaza, about a third of whom are believed to be dead.

More than 80 people have been killed in Israeli strikes in Lebanon and northern Gaza since late Saturday, according to reports.
