Tottenham are set to rival Chelsea and a number of clubs across Europe in the race to sign for Mathys Tel after he pushed for a transfer away from Bayern Munich, sources have told ESPN.

Some of Mathys Tel’s suitors are now convinced the Bayern Munich forward will join Tottenham or Aston Villa this month despite interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal. Tel, 19, is expected to leave Bayern in the final days of the January transfer window having started just four matches all season.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are among those interested in Tel, with Manchester United also said to be in the race for the 19-year-old Bayern Munich forward. Bayern have confirmed Tel wants to leave and he appeared to wave goodbye to Bayern fans after their Champions League win over Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday.
