California Gov. Gavin Newsom reportedly will veto a bill that would block his state’s prison system from cooperating with ICE, a report says.

Under new bill AB 15, the California prison system would be unable to hold someone in custody based off a request from ICE. The system would also be prohibited from transferring individuals to ICE

Governor Newsom has previously vetoed two similar bills. Governor Newsom is threatening to veto an expansion of California’s “sanctuary” law that would prevent immigration officials from deporting illegal immigrants with criminal histories as Democratic lawmakers try to “Trump proof” the state.
