Condemned South Carolina inmate Brad Sigmon has chosen to die next month by a firing squad, a method of execution that has not been used in the U.S. in 15 years.

A South Carolina death row inmate has chosen to be executed by a firing squad next month rather than by lethal injection or the electric chair.

Brad Sigmon, who used a baseball bat to kill his ex-girlfriend's parents at their home in Greenville County, California, didn't pick the electric chair because it would "burn and cook him alive"

South Africa's Eskom has managed to restore six units at power plants after implementing its highest stage of controlled power cuts early on Sunday, the power utility said after multiple failures at Majuba and Camden power stations over the weekend.
