One of the more intriguing developments of the early stages of the Las Vegas Raiders offseason was a report by The Athletic over the weekend that the team is shopping tight end Michael Mayer in trade talks.

A year before the Raiders landed generational tight end Brock Bowers in round one, they used a second-round pick on tight end Michael Mayer.

Two years ago the Raiders traded up to select Michael Mayer at the top of the second round. According to Vic Tafur and Tashan Reed of The Athletic, the Raiders have had trade discussions with teams about tight end Michael Mayer. While the former second-round pick has disappointed during his brief stint in the NFL, there are still teams willing to gamble on the player’s upside.
