Chicago weather: Strong to possibly a few severe storms are possible this evening
Rain and storms are moving through the region this evening ahead of a cold front that will bring cooler temperatures to the area on Friday.
Strong to severe storms will be possible on Friday in Alabama, and they could arrive as soon as the early morning hours in some areas. The National Weather Service said the strongest storms could have damaging winds, hail and possibly a tornado or two.
On Saturday, more rain is forecast with a repeat of warmer-than-normal temperatures, a high of 40 and a low of 27. Snow is expected in areas north of the city, according to the NWS, which predicts minor snow accumulation in the Saginaw-Bay City-Midland and Thumb areas.
A radar-confirmed tornado ripped across Interstate 35 and part of Purcell, Oklahoma Thursday morning, knocking down power lines as a powerful line of thunderstorms barreled their way across the Southern Plains.
