Wind chills as low as negative 15 — with the chance to reach negative 20 — are expected to arrive in Wichita this weekend, with the cold beginning late Thursday and lasting through Sunday. As for snow, the exact amount can be hard to forecast this early out, Baerg said, but the NWS is expecting at least a few inches.
After the snow ends tonight, attention will shift to dangerously cold wind chills. We have issued Weather Alert Days for Sunday and Monday for wind chills that will range from 10 to 20 degrees below zero. Wind chills this cold could lead to a frostbite risk in as little as 30 minutes if precautions are not taken.
