A winter storm expected to hit more than half the nation dumped as much as 7 inches of snow on western Kansas late Friday, Jan. 23, and early Saturday, Jan. 24.
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - It is a clear and cold, but otherwise quiet morning across Kansas. Wake-up temperatures in the 20s will eventually climb into the middle to upper 40s this afternoon underneath mainly sunny skies.

How Wichita will handle the coming winter storm
Wichita is bracing for a winter storm that could drop several inches of snow in the area.
Wichita is now under an “extreme cold watch” for the winter storm that is forecast to hit Friday and could impact the southern half of Kansas all the way to the east coast. It is also expected to bring 5-10 inches of snow.
Wichita Public Schools is evaluating potential school closures as a winter storm approaches Kansas, with Storm Team 12 forecasting 8 to 12 inches of snow in Wichita starting Friday afternoon through Saturday evening.
The winter storm currently gripping a large swath of the country will keep Memphis basketball team from returning home for a few days.
