Indiana’s Camp Atterbury and New Jersey’s Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst will be temporarily used to detain immigrants lacking permanent legal status, according to a directive from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey is set to become an immigrant detention center. A defense department spokesperson told media outlets that the timeframe depends on operational requirements and coordination with the Homeland Security Department.
