As DPS and ICE operations are underway in the Colony Ridge development here's what to know about the controversial community.

NEW CANEY, Texas — Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and special agents assisted Homeland Security Investigations with an operation in Colony Ridge Monday morning, Gov. Greg Abbott announced on social media. The governor said the initiative aims to apprehend "criminals & illegal immigrants" in the Liberty County housing development.

The development outside of Houston has long drawn the ire of Texas Republicans who claim it’s a haven for undocumented people.
