March 5 (UPI) -- The Attorney General's Office of Florida has opened a criminal investigation into Andrew and Tristan Tate.

Both brothers have been accused of trafficking minors, rape, and money laundering and were detained in Romania for years.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appointed James Uthmeier, his former chief of staff, as the state's new Attorney General.

"We're going to pursue every tool we have within our legal authority to hold them accountable," Attorney General James Uthmeier said.
