KERR COUNTY, Texas — Friday marks exactly three weeks since the Guadalupe River surged, killing more than a hundred people, 37 of them children. To help with recovery, Kerr County is hosting another informational meeting for residents Friday morning.

The body of a woman who was missing in the devastating July 4 floods has been found, according to Gov. Greg Abbott. Abbott said Task Force 1 — one of the search teams deployed in response — recovered the body in the Kerrville area. He announced the discovery in a post on X at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday.

Kerr County teams have located most of the 160 people previously unaccounted for in the wake of the July 4th Texas flooding, with just three still missing.

The Upper Guadalupe River Authority tapped its $3.4 million surplus to lower property tax rates, rather than fund $1 million in flood warning upgrades.

Social media posts claim Kerr County, an area hit hard by devastating flash floods, rejected the money from the Biden administration.

Texas flood rescue operations continue, with Deputy Stewart from Washington State and others facing harsh conditions.

Testimony will be heard from those in charge of managing rivers as well as emergency managers and first responders about the flash flooding that killed at least 135 people.
