Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said she is confident her US counterpart Donald Trump won’t impose reciprocal tariffs on her nation’s exports next month as tensions between the top trading partners simmer.

After a call with President Sheinbaum, Trump announced that most Mexico imports will not be subject to tariffs until at least early April.

MEXICO CITY – Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum’s dispassionate style on the campaign trail was once seen as such a political weakness that her opponent in the 2024 presidential election branded her “The Ice Queen”.
