Houston won’t formally acquire Kevin Durant and Clint Capela until this weekend, and The Athletic says the deal may involve an NBA-record seven teams.

The Athletic's Fred Katz reported Wednesday night that the Houston Rockets' Kevin Durant deal with the Phoenix Suns could expand into a seven-team bonanza. The trade hasn't been made official yet, which allows for this maneuvering, most of which would be done to move some salary around between various teams.

The Golden State Warriors reportedly are among five teams the Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns are working to include in the Kevin Durant trade.
