KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Waves of drones and missiles targeted Kyiv overnight in the largest aerial assault since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began more than three years ago, officials said Friday, amid a renewed Russian push to capture more of its neighbor’s land.

Russia unleashed over 500 drones and missiles on Ukraine overnight in what is described as the most extensive aerial attack since the war began, with Kyiv being the main target. At least 23 people were injured, and multiple residential buildings in the capital were damaged.

Russia fired 322 drones and decoys into Ukraine overnight into Saturday, Ukraine's air force said. Of these, 157 were shot down and 135 were lost, likely having been electronically jammed.
