Westbound is a 1959 American Western film directed by Budd Boetticher and starring Randolph Scott, Virginia Mayo and Karen Steele. The film was shot in September 1958 in Warnercolor at cost of a little more than half a million dollars.

Weapons are essential tools in Westbound used for bounty hunting, hunting, self defense, and killing other players. There are currently two types of weapons; ranged weapons and melee weapons. Every player starts off with a Colt.45 and a Knife. You can purchase weapons at Gunsmiths in any town.

Mining involves digging up ores underground and selling them to make money. In Westbound, mining is done in caves with the Pickaxe. You obtain your first Pickaxe by purchasing it for free at any General Store in most towns. Higher tier pickaxes give you a higher chance of obtaining ores, and a higher chance of the ore being valuable.

In 1864, during the American Civil War, postmaster general James Fuller arranges for Capt. John Hayes, one of the best Union cavalry officers, to take control of the Overland Stage, which has expanded to transport large gold shipments from California to federal banks in support of the Union, thus enabling the army to buy guns and equipment.
