3 years ago I took a DNA test to confirm that I am a direct descendant of the B'rassa (Balanta) ethnic group of Guinea-Bissau. After leaving our original homeland of the Nile Valley (Modern-day Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia), biñam B'rassa (Balanta people) migrated to Lake Chad, then to the Mali region, and recently settled in coastal West Afrika in what is now Guinea-Bissau (where my Ancestor was trafficked from).
