Lovely to see the late, great Fred Dibnah back on our screens tonight on BBC Four and right here in Llangollen! Watching Fred explore our corner of the world with his infectious passion for industrial history and engineering was a real treat. His down-to-earth charm and deep respect for Britain’s working heritage still resonates today. There’s no doubt that he inspired a good many of our volunteers to get involved with the railway. Fred visited us back in 1999 and had a ride aboard Black 5 No 44
