Mud was an integral part of cracking the case of who killed Debe Atrops in 1988. Debe Atrops was found in the trunk of her car parked next to a construction site in Beaverton, Oregon. There was mud on Debe’s coat and shoes, the front passenger tire, and the steering wheel of the car. Decades after they first collected it, these mud samples — among other evidence — would help investigators close the case. | 48 Hours
