Atlantic Ocean Road, an impressive drive in Norway

Construction work at the Røyrnes viewpoint along the Norwegian Scenic Route Aurlandsfjellet is well underway! Recently, we had a very special visitor: Extra, a 7-year-old hunting Labrador trained to detect unexploded explosives. Thanks to Extra’s sharp nose, two remnants of explosives from earlier construction work were discovered. With these findings safely handled, the work can now continue without risk. Espenes is a great stop along Sørfjorden on the road between Kinsarvik and Odda. In this powerful fiord landscape, you will find a modern Scenic Route facility with a great view northwards along the fiord. The distinctive feature of this rest area is a 64-metre-long and 4-metre-wide steel structure, with 12 roof modules of varying heights.
