Combining processes is one of my favourite things to do in printmaking, here I am combining a monotype with botanical monoprinting and using my intaglio press. Monotype is a messy reduction process there is a lot of wiping away for the excess ink. I get completely covered in ink, but I do love the marks you get from it, it has a high level of unpredictablilty which I find both challenging and exciting. I have tried pressing for an hour, a day, a month, using fresh and this one is just wilted a bit! 😂 Complex plants are always more difficult and remain visually complex (of course!) I have been promising to show some more printing on fabric… so here we go. Ferns have to be one of my favourite things to print and I couldnt resist going for the White on Black again with this one... its just such a striking combination I think and with this I can wear it too! Ferns are often considered a symbol of sincerity and honesty. It conveys a message of genuine feelings and trustworthiness. I always love a little upcycling and these jeans were a bit faded so I thought why not…. Nothing
